Lost. (SW said the title is too short.)

Yea, I'm lost. But I know it now. Maybe not so lost as I was before. But still lost.

Let me start from the beginning. I left home at age 21 to join the Air Force. And after a couple years or so, I began to see the Air Force (and other Military personnel I served with) as my family of choice. But I started having health problems. And I had to get out.

26 years later, I find myself working for the VA. That's the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Nothing glorious. I answer the Goddamm phone. Most people hate it. But I don't. 8 hours a day I talk to other Veterans who seem to suffer the same kind of loss. And it makes it MORE(!) bearable.

I'm still lost. But not so lost as I was before.

It's important to be part of your family...in whatever way you can.
