Maybe there isn't a point.
Maybe we just evolved to where we are by quirk of fate.
Perhaps we just climbed the food chain quicker because virus or climate or ice age ensured we adapted our diet and immune system quicker than any other species.

Not that it gives humans immunity from exactly those same things.
I mean look how climate and recognizable disease affect huge numbers of us still.
