It would never happen in today's world with the internet, but I loved at Christmas time how all the department stores decorated all of their store front window displays and entire inner store. And each one had their own Santa for the kids to sit and tell the wish list to. It was like going to a magical downtown Christmas display with my parents and family. I loved them.

But the internet, google, windows, and Bing or whatever replaced a beloved yearly family outing.

@WillaKissing I remember that. All the stores were so festive and beautiful. 🙂🙂🙂

@WillaKissing do department stores in the states not still decorate, etc?

In the UK shopping centres do and there is a Santa to go visit
WillaKissing · 56-60
@Musicman Yes! It was like a yearly tour of downtown Columbus, Ohio for my family and I.

@WillaKissing Do they still decorate? We have two that decorate here. One goes all out.

@WillaKissing I remember Gimbel's and Woolworth's having their own restaurants inside the department store
WillaKissing · 56-60
@mangomonkey The department stores have all disappeared along with 95% of the shopping malls. The US is so large that Amazon and other online shopping killed the malls, department stores, and shopping centers.

@WillaKissing I hate what today's world has become of itself
WillaKissing · 56-60
@HumanEarth Yes, and you could buy hot chocolate and coffee while shopping along with food. What a great by gone era! Woolworths Lazarus JC Penney Gimbels and other chain stores all competed display and food wise to draw in the most customers.

@HumanEarth I am right there with you.
