You summarized something that is conveniently dismissed by younger people with a need to blame 'boomers' for their lives and the current situation. It was a tectonic shift in society that a whole lot of powerful people fought against. But what was accomplished seems to be forgotten.

@Ynotisay I think a lot of what was accomplished has been gradually back sliding. Real change takes constant attention and commitment. "Every generation throws a hero up the pop charts"

@GerOttman I completely agree. Just attaining things like Civil Rights, Women's Rights, Migrant Worker's Rights and all the rest has shown to be no guarantee of how those things would play out and how they can be chipped away.
