LED bulbs are cool

I've lived here 4 years and haven't had to change a single lamp.馃檹

That's all that have been available here for quite a number of years now, after virtually all sizes of incandescent luminaire for mains operation were banned.

I had a big stock-pile of incandescent bulbs, about 40 or so of different wattages, in a box in the loft. A few months ago I finally cleared almost all of them out. I took them to the Council waste-yard and put them in the appropriate skip.

@Matt85 No need to be patronising.

I mentioned how I dispose of them because I know some people would simply throw them in the ordinary land-fill refuse.

@ArishMell I wasn't being patronising, I was trying to be funny.

@Matt85 OK - It's always difficult on text messages!

Mine burn out anywhere from 6 months to 1 year.

@melissa001 Ones from a reputable manufacturer should last much longer than that - or is your electricity supply prone to over-voltages?
melissa00151-55, F
@ArishMell maybe I do not buy a name brand. Mine are Walmart.

@melissa001 Supermarket own-brand goods are usually reasonably good, but perhaps they are buying the cheapest they can find!

They do last, and saves on power
Matt8536-40, M
@NerdySoph Yes. I saw on Mythbusters that they use a tiny fraction of the energy an incandescent uses and they were even better than compact fluorescent bulbs.

@Matt85 they bother my eyes
Matt8536-40, M
@MasterLee Stop looking at that directly. You wouldn't do that with other lightbulbs.
