I don't want any part of either. To summarize a quote I read, "She should be happy and I should be happy, individually, responsible for our own happiness. A relationship is to enjoy each others happiness and company, to grow together". Basically, be your own sun and moon.

One can have a brightening effect on many lives, any life one touches,
by learning how to be happy, healthy, sane and relaxed in oneself.
A few minutes conversation with the checkout chick about her kids and her life - and you can see her change at the surprise and joy that someone treats her like a fellow human being, not an automaton or servant.
Spending time connecting and being social.
Asking a blind man who just bumped into a garbage bin whether he would like assistance to get where he's going.
Calming a barking dog with a little company, affection and play.
Picking up litter and dropping it into the recycling makes the environment a nicer place to be.
Remaining relaxed and dealing with a situation appropriately when someone else is stressing.
Letting someone else have the parking place and waiting a little longer to get one.
Leaving flowers anonymously on a neighbour's or stranger's doorstep.
There are infinite ways we can all brighten the lives of others.

There's a saying. Anyone can be a sun friend and smile when you smile. Only real friends can stay when you cry.
