What happened to the fun me?

I am in a town for work that I had spent close to a year in for work, not quite 10 years ago. I rented a house 3 doors up from one of the ones I previously stayed in, which is in walking distance to a bar that I loved. Driving here I was just as excited to go visit that bar as ever, along with 2 other places I was considered a "regular" at one time. 10 days later and I haven't gone to one single place here aside from an auto parts store, the gas station and reluctantly, Walmart.

Being here makes me kinda miss drinking, but not enough to go drink a beer. I just randomly went from drinking 2 or more 30 packs a week to nothing at all. No reason, no one made me, I just didn't buy a new case one day and never did again. I do miss the old me who used to have fun though.

There is ways to make life fun in these little bit later years. I get it though. I have zero desire to go out and drink. I'd rather smoke a joint on the porch and connect with something or someone more meaningful.

@Starcrossed 💯 A nice relaxing toke, free mind, deep thoughts, silly but inhibitions in check, no threat or worry about making the dumbest choice of your life... And no hangover. Love the herb 🖤

Hey brother....well done! Be proud of your resistance. That takes a strong man.
And look, we all miss the "old" us, drinkin' and kickin' out the jams, and then one day.....that one day, that epiphany rears it's head out of the alcoholic mist and declares that we gotta turn that shit around.
It's hard man.....hard as the new steel on a blacksmiths forge.....but the metal that comes out the other end, well........priceless
Keep fighting the fight. Continue to be bold, sell out, do what you need to do to keep your life on an even keel.
My best man.

i used to be a regular at this one restaurant/bar near me....when i darkened the door, the staff would yell, "brittany's here!" i was never an alcy, but i WAS somewhat using it as a coping mechanism...even if i only got tipsy once or twice a week. i barely drink at all now, but it doesn't mean we arent fun!

You got older. I wouldn't necessarily say the 'fun' you is gone, what is 'fun' is probably just different now.
Drinking a whole bunch grows old for a lot of people.
Avoid losing the present by dwelling on the past, as doing so might cause you to miss out on experiencing it again in the future.

I think it’s the adrenaline or something we feel. I feel like that too.
