Does an animal's life has the same value as a human life?

We are at the pinnacle of the evolutionary pyramid. But does that give us the moral right to end anotherlife? Or does the rest of life exist to supplement our survival and happiness?

It's more like everyone has the right to be free of hunger. And in order to satisfy that right, whether you consume one form of life or the other. So long it's consciously done for survival, I think it's an act of honoring that life because now it becomes you.

@SoulKey If it is done on absolute necessity, it is sensible. But I wonder if it is absolute necessity in all case. How do we justify ending another life?
