Why do people iron??

I have no idea why anyone would iron clothes regularly. I iron the occasional item but in general, no way! Such a waste of time. Hang it on a hanger to dry and it won’t be creased.

My mother almost had a heart attack today when I told her I haven’t got my iron out in about 6 months.

As I told her, she has time to waste! I do not 🤓

I don't even own an iron or ironing board and haven't for years. Many years ago, the older fabrics did wrinkle badly (especially cotton shirts and dresses ) in the laundry, but I haven't seen that happen in 30 years. Now my Mum ironed right up until the last month of her life. I bought her some fabric spray that takes out wrinkles, but having dementia, she forgot to use it.
