Today, I saw something that reinforced my radical belief that smartphones should be banned.

This young lady was with her toddler waiting on the signal to cross the intersection. Instead of paying attention to her child, she was looking at her phone. The toddler literally stepped into the street while traffic was coming. I didn't see what happened afterwards. I kept driving (I could not have possibly had time to stop and do anything...) but was praying the child would be safe.

I really don't think banning "smartphones", would change the behavior of distracted or negligent care-takers of children. IF that toddler [i]was[/i] hit by a car, it would almost surely have been someone with a "smartphone" who called 911.

@Piper 😂 You may not be old enough to remember: before smartphones, we had dumb phones. We were perfectly capable of calling 911 with dumb phones.
