My sister-in-law was due on the 24th but the baby hasn't come yet... Should I get the plunger?

Just kidding. Is it safe for a baby to go over its expected Time of Arrival?
Starchild1983 · 41-45, F
Yes it’s usually safe anywhere from two weeks before to two weeks after
Google says "First babies are less likely to be “on time” at 39 weeks, and more likely to be a little late, between 41 and 43 weeks."

Aw heck, let's just post a birth curve!

@ElwoodBlues you are so kind

I was two weeks late. I must have known what a mistake being born into this cold hard world would be.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@hunkalove I thought you were hatched from an egg?
It's not uncommon for some babies to be born late. I was expected to arrive in July but waited until August to put in my appearance outside of the womb.
@HootyTheNightOwl I just double checked... and, apparently only 4% of babies are actually born on their due date.
These are estimates. She'll be fine.

Common! Yes…

We had big 'uns. They likely miscalculated the due date like us. We knew for certain one conception date.

It is also not too unusual to go a little longer.

Safe for a little bit but they'll usually induce you at 43 weeks.
Ask her gynaec. Each case is different.

My last niece went 10 days past due time. It's fine.
