When you get a one-word response to 3 para comment

Can you relate to this?

I once responded to a query asked by one of my co-workers on social media.

I made certain that she received a well-researched and concise response. It took me three long paragraphs and an hour on my laptop to complete.

Her reply; "ok"

I lost it there

I deleted my entire comment.

Then came her response like a waterfall;
paragraph after paragraph on how nasty it is to erase a comment. That continued throughout the day.

I stood there scratching my head. I didn't understand social media obviously.🫤

10 years on, it is making sense.

I try to treat people online in the same way I would in real life. I find it massively irritating how cold and inconsiderate people can be towards others online, it's like consideration and compassion are suddenly alien concepts to some people.

@SW-User It’s keyboard courage.
People don’t dare to be as rude irl. There are consequences.

@Adogslife Thats right.

@Renkon @Adogslife It's more important to be considerate online. Irl you probably know a bit about their emotional state, you can read their body language at least but here you don't know if the person you're communicating with has mental health issues or something else happening in their life that might make them do something dangerous as a result of one upsetting remark.
@DownTheStreet Yeah, I think that would’ve been my reply to her scolding…

Sometimes there's little to add to a long reply...nice post,or ok.....

@bookerdana On second consideration, I feel the same way. Perhaps there is nothing else to say. I should've been more patient.

@Renkon Well,sometimes these things are annoying
It's a lovely thing to make sense out of life, to put poetry to words. Sometimes your questions and posts feel they are asking the wrong questions. You'll probably put to not understanding social media, but maybe her words that came like a waterfall is the effervescent secret ingredient?

@thewindupbirdchronicles Perhaps it is. She could be the secret ingredient.
We may not be aware of everything. But sometimes, when we ponder why, we get an answer.
What was her point?

If you were in her shoes, would it have upset you if a person deletes the comment?

I would have done the same as you did.

@CookieCrumbs I'm not sure, but may be it might upset me then. At present it won't worry me much.
