When did Easter become like gift giving at Christmas?

Or is this just my family. I wanted to get some Easter eggs for my Nieces and Nephew. But got some for their mums, Dad's, Grandparents (my dad - cause if I didn't give him one he'd eat all of theirs.) 😏

I have no idea, everything is about spending money. I think this started when credit cards use became a lot more common.
