When did Easter become like gift giving at Christmas?

Or is this just my family. I wanted to get some Easter eggs for my Nieces and Nephew. But got some for their mums, Dad's, Grandparents (my dad - cause if I didn't give him one he'd eat all of theirs.) 😏

I don't know, but when I was in high school, I had a teacher tell us that they give gifts for Easter in his family and I had never heard of this. I don't think it's a bad thing and it's actually easier because all you have to do is know what everyone's favorite candy is.
