This is a story about a man with 4 wives.. anyone like to edit? There's an English major out there somewhere...

One day the man with four wives fell sick and he knew he would not last much longer. He was afraid of being alone in the afterlife, so he called for his fourth wife. She was his favorite. He had given her everything, jewels, fine clothing and took best care of her. He asked if she would go to the afterlife with him. His fourth wife said no and walked away from him.

Then he called his third wife. He liked being with her and to show her off to neighboring kingdoms. He asked her if she would go to the afterlife with him. But she said no. That she liked life too much. And someday she may remarry. But she would come to the funeral.

He called for his second wife,
she was always there in his time of need. And he asked her would she go to the after life with him. And she said no , but I will arrange a nice funeral for you and I will be there at your funeral. Then a voice calls out and says I will go anywhere with you even if it is the afterlife. It was his first wife. And the man says I'm sorry I should've taken better care of you.
The truth is we all have 4 wives and the fourth wife is our body. We like to decorate it and take care of it. But we can't take it with us when we go. The third wife is our friends. We enjoy being around them. But we can't take them with us.The second wife is our family. Always there in our times of need to take care of us. But we can't take them with us in the end.
The first wife is our soul. We often forget about it , but it is always with us and it will go to the afterlife with us.
So the moral of the story is we should take care of our body and our friends, family and especially our soul. Since it will live with us in the afterlife.
I hope I got it close enough. It's a Cambodian fairy tale I think maybe Laotian..
