The Gender Debate

Zeitgeist

Mary? Is that you? Getty
.......
It’s become an “article of trans faith” that there are “exactly 73 genders”, says Mary Wakefield in The Spectator. The fastest-growing subset is said to be “xenogender” – people who feel “more akin to animals or plants or foods than humans”. There’s a girl on TikTok who explains very seriously that her gender is “bird” – specifically a cardinal, with “ey/em” pronouns. There’s a horse child who is taken out by school staff for gallops; “a boy dinosaur who is fed on strips of meat”. I’ve also found several people who “identify as cake”. There is some disagreement in the community about how it feels to be cake, but in general I gather it’s a sort of “sweet, fluffy feeling; a lightness”. “No one who’s cake-gender can have tasted a cake I’ve baked.”

This is either satire or a person with too much time and lots of fantasy.

The gender debate is unnecessary if people could just accept and love each other the way they are.
If you happen to know or meet someone who goes by certain pronouns and a gender identity you may not know, how about just being decent and accepting them. No harm comes from that.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Annie13 so you are decent and accept people as they are and their opinions. You just accept and love them?
Annie13 · F
@Torsten There is a difference between identity and opinion 😌
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Annie13 no a persons opinions and beliefs are apart of them. You either accept them as they are or you dont. Which one is it?
Annie13 · F
@Torsten If ones opinions don't lead to potential harm i have no problem with them.
Gender identity is innate and opinions are created through environment and socialisation.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Annie13 gender identity is merely a belief and what you may consider as non-harmful could very well be harmful to others.
Basically what you said to begin with is just not something you yourself do. You only accept and love those you think are worthy of that, just like everyone else
Annie13 · F
@Torsten No what I meant is that I would not intentionally misgender someone and be disrespectful based on gender expression
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Annie13 so if you seen a guy with a beard and by all standards is a male, but this male is wearing a dress, You would accept this person as a female if he said he was one?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Torsten
what you may consider as non-harmful could very well be harmful to others.
Care to explain to the rest of us how other's people self-identification is going to be "harmful" to you?
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Elessar I said harmful to others. No surprise you missed that part.
One easy example is those women in prisons who now have male rapists in there with them who suddenly identify as women. That sounds pretty harmful
Annie13 · F
@Torsten Sure but it's a strawman since a majority of trans people align their appearance with their gender.
You just described a Drag Queen who also go by she/her but mostly temporarily as long as they are in drag.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Annie13 no I described someone who puts in no effort to pass but still will identify as the opposite sex. There is many people out there like that now.
Its easy i am sure for you to call them drag queens but that is technically you misgendering them and that proves my point.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Torsten Unless you identify yourself as transexual you're part of "others" too, so why are you trying to correcting my statement?

And that sounds like a pretty edge case. It needs to be addressed, sure, but not by taking away rights to everyone else. If an edge case is sufficient to abolish an entire thing, why aren't you conservatives campaigning for strict guns restrictions, for instance?
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Elessar I am trying to correct you because I believe we all do not just accept others as they want to be accepted and fully believe it is human nature to not just willingly accept and love everyone.
Hell, animals dont even do that

to me it sounds like absolute bullshit. No offense
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Torsten Nobody impedes you to move off civilization and live like an animal, if that's what you want. The rest of us moved on from that phase over 10,000 years ago and aren't as eager to go back to that.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Elessar oh believe me if I did not have responsibilities, I would have been gone long ago and be much happier for it if it meant never having to deal with weak confused people such as yourself
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Torsten Animals don't have responsibilities either, you don't need to hide behind excuses. Reality is that you're too afraid to leave the comforts/benefits of civilization, wasn't it the case you wouldn't have an account on here (unless you feel like you have a "responsibility" to have social media accounts lol) and we wouldn't be having this talk, for starters.

Elessar · 26-30, M
@Torsten No, if you really wanted to live like an animal that wouldn't be a responsibility at all. The fish in my tank, for instance, eat their prole just fine. The great majority of animals in the wild just abandon them.

Social media is not a responsibility. Maybe it is for you that has nothing else going on but for me, its just a time killer.
Yet animals don't need social media accounts, or time killers. So why are you here?

Hell, animals dont even do that
You used this as a reason to repeal something, on the basis that "it's not what animals do".

Animals don't have social media accounts either, animals don't necessarily mentor their prole, animals don't have responsibilities. Yet you want all three.

I'm pointing our your evident double standards and evident projection complex, with you being the fragile insecure bigot conservative.
Punches · 46-50, F
@Torsten @Elessar can you two please act like ladies about this instead of insulting each other?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Punches I'm not even insulting lol, just applying the same idiotic "logic" to the sender

>>>> Hell, animals dont even do that

>>> Nobody impedes you to move off civilization and live like an animal, if that's what you want.

>> oh believe me if I did not have responsibilities, I would have been gone long ago and be much happier for it if

> Animals don't have responsibilities either, you don't need to hide behind excuses
Punches · 46-50, F
@Elessar I was just talking smack as always.🙂
TheGreatestEver123 · 41-45, M
@Annie13 there is such a thing as biological fact though.

I identify as a flower! Or maybe a baseball glove! I’m so confused about what I want to be! It ain’t fair no matter what I think and tell people I am and ends up being all for nothing because no matter what I’m still a man!
