Do you feel YOU call all the shots in your life?

I read once in an article from PsychToday that you wont feel true joy until *you* call the shots in your life. I really liked that. But I struggle with it because I second guess myself so MUCH. 😟

I am married. I don't think a marriage will work if each party feels entitled to call all the shots.

For that matter, I don't think a society can work if each individual feels entitled to call all the shots.

@DrWatson I mean do you feel a authority over your own life..that you will make decisions for yourself, right or wrong. That you can generally do as you please or want in your life...you dont feel you are incapable of having things, or others are directing who you feel YOU are.

@Coralmist I do not feel I can make big decisions for myself: like where to live, or making huge purchases. I do have obligations toward my wife, and for that matter toward my job, which do place limits on how I spend my time. So I cannot just do as I please.

Perhaps that is the cause of so many people's "mid life crises."
