Are there any benefits to working, as opposed to having a free ride for life?

Working for the sake of working is not something I think society should advocate, but so many people think it is the way things should be. That it isn't fair to the people who do work for others to have a free ride without working. Honestly, I believe we should be working to minimize the need for human labor in the future.

That being said, the key benefit to working when you don't have to is to better understand people who do have to work. Having a job be optional is never going to help you understand the dread and stress of people who need their job to survive, but you'll be a heck of a lot closer than people who have never worked a day in their lives.

Understanding the effort that goes into keeping services working and making products really helps bring an appreciation to what is available to you.
