It is a messed up world

When people plant a bomb in a crowded street knowing that it will kill some and injure or cause permanent disabilities to other dozens, what the fuck are they thinking? Like I am seriously wondering, who has the heart to do this knowing that they will actively take lives of complete strangers.

Imagine I had all these plans and thoughts about the future, immigration, a fresh start and a new life, and maybe love.. and I go to Turkey for just a week, only to get killed or severely injured.. Thinking about it, it could have been well the case, just pure chance separating us from death! It is when you realise how fragile you are.

The damn terrorists who organised it, did it in the most touristic and crowded places in Turkey. It is one street with beautiful old buildings, it is why everyone goes there, and it is why I went there because I love those old looking buildings.

Many of those who got affected probably had similar dreams to mine, that they can no longer live or fulfill.. It is a messed up world.
It is..and we had plenty of this with the IRA.
They blew up a couple of places I'd been to.
One precisely a week after I'd been stood right next to where the bomb went off.
It makes you think.

Innocent people don't deserve this. Go throw a bomb in the parliament or something. Leave the poor civilians out of it.
The KKK killed a lot of its targets that way in the 20th century, including four children in a church one Sunday. It’s an evil, cowardly act. 😞

@bijouxbroussard And some are trying to prevent anything like this from even being mentioned in schools!
@DrWatson Exactly. A perfect example where those not being allowed to learn from history may very well repeat it.

A few days after my wife and I returned from Spain (many years ago), a Basque separatist group set off a bomb in a little plaza in Madrid where we had eaten breakfast one morning.

It is an eerie feeling, I know. But you are here and you will go to Canada.

That's what hate does. They hate that much that they are empty voids, their humanity is no more.
Yep, health isn't craftable. Eating healthy and exercising helps, but everyone can become disabled at any point in their life. It's a hard pill to swallow and most people are in denial of that, but that doesn't make it any less true.

And the worst part is that it affects a lot more people than necessary because they take it so lightly until it happens to them.
It happened in the exact area 6 years ago. It's just fucked up. My sister's university transport passes near the same area 😔

Completely senseless.

Maybe in a way it's safer to avoid the biggest cities that are perhaps the most attractive targets for fundamentalists wanting to make a global statement

E.g., maybe İzmir has a somewhat lower probability of terror attacks than globally known Istanbul, without being in the backwards, eastern part of Turkey?

It's also hard to know when to believe the Erdogan administration ... Kurds are the natural scapegoat for Turks it would seem, and ask the Armenians about the Turks ... Turkey is a mixed bag, particularly under Erdogan
