Speaking of that, do you think toughness is something parents think about when raising their kids?

Like does anyone ever stop and think "hm, I hope my child doesn't grow up to be a spineless mouse of a human being with no coping skills for adversity".

And if so, what steps do they take to prevent that?

What is the right way to toughen up your kids?

Not giving everything they want will make them more realistic and will allow them to realize life is like that.
Motivating them to complete tasks, so they become responsible.
Letting them find their own solutions too but giving them emotionally support so they don't feel scared and nervous
