@Gusman about 20 years ago I watched two young women getting evicted at my apartment complex due to not paying their rent. One of them sat on a curb with a laundry basket with clothes & other belongings in it and cried. The deputy who had evicted her came to her and told her she had to leave the premises. So she got up and carried her basket of belongings with her and walked away. It was bad enough to get evicted but not to have a vehicle to pack more things in it and be able to drive off and maybe have a temporary place to sleep in it was even worse.
