How do you react to compliments?

I never know quite how to take them. I'll usually crack a bad joke. I'm working on a sincere thank you as a response but it doesn't come naturally to me.

When I receive them /I think to myself
meh
and
what do you want?

I don't take them very well. 😕

I usually just smile and say thank you.

Sometimes gracefully, sometimes bashfully, sometimes, if they are disingenuous, I react negatively because I am an outspoken person. I've never run into 'manipulative flattery' on the internet. I really can't make that call on a computer screen, but in 'offline' situations, I don't let people blow smoke up my butt.

With suspicion.

In a really odd odd manner sometimes, I point out a fault in whatever is being complimented and most of the time I laugh it off like I didn't even say thank you!? No idea why I gotta laugh as a reaction to everything, strange lol

I usually hide.

I get very defensive. I don't like being complimented.

Usually with a sincere Thank You !!!
