Why can't some people see fault in themselves? Or why are they unable to admit it?

I'm not disincluding myself... But some people seem to be terribly unaware

How many times have we told our kids "Oh, it is not your fault"....
While knowing that whatever has actually happened .... is simply a result of cause and effect....

And then we have current and past politicians that are on the news daily reinforcing the belief that "It's not my fault".........
