I don't get why my friends keep getting married and having babies.

I get that the human race needs to continue, but why do people feel the need to have a family and all that? Am I just missing something? I have no desire to be in a relationship or even have sex or any of that. I just keep getting the feeling that life is just dull and pointless and the only way to be remembered is in the arts or making some significant contribution to science. I don't think I can do that if I have feelings for anyone. It would just get in the way.
