I pursued a dream of living in the forests. I bought a modest home. I hiked for hours. I walked on beaches. I gave it my best shot. Things changed. There is no work. I must leave my life in this tiny town. Leave my forests. Leave my river. Leave the sandy trails. Leave my home. Return to the city. Find work. I have seen mountains. I have cried at their beauty. Perhaps there and still near forests and water. Who knows where my future lies? I move forward. The feeling of home is carried in my poetic heart.

@PoetryNEmotion You ARE the personification of poetry in motion. That my love was beautifully composed!
PoetryNEmotion · F
@Grateful4you Why, thank you so much! I am awake at 5 am and thinking. I saw your question and I answered. It is dark and peaceful. And my heart whispers find your home. I hope your day holds you dear.
Grateful4you · M
@PoetryNEmotion I sure hope to find it someday soon. Have yourself a wonderful day, my eyes are getting bleary so I'm going to be logging off before too awfully long. Stay well, stay happy. (((HUGS))) David.

I live by a small freshwater lake, and to me, oceans are just oversized lakes and the water is salty.
I'm scared by the ocean. The ocean has no end. I can't swim to the other side, and there are no trees.

@helenS At least you enjoy being near water. I still yearn to be seaside.
Fairydust · F
I grew up and have always lived by or near the sea. It’s beautiful.
I love being in nature and hearing the waves, birds.

I can't think of one single place yet but I'm sure if I should be somewhere long-term, I want to have trees around.

@tindrummer How great. You're living my dream. Good for you. I spent a week in Pacific Grove so I got a small taste of what you see everyday.

on my sailboat seeing tropical beaches around the world ,,,
oldercanuck1 · 70-79, M
@Grateful4you yes they do a lot do damage to the dunes ,, and going so fast i am surprised they have not run into each other ,, a lot more ,,,
Grateful4you · M
@oldercanuck1 When I lived in ND I was an EMT we had quite a number of snowmobile accidents. Many have no regard for a persons property and would noisily tear across the property sometimes at 2am and probably drunk as lords. We finally put a chain all around the property. Dang I miss that old victorian home. A lot of work but beautiful.
oldercanuck1 · 70-79, M
@Grateful4you yes had the same problem when i lived in Northern Ontario ,, but when they put the trails in life got better for us ,,,, yes those old home have character for sure
Iwillwait · M

Same here and it has to be warm . I just long to get as far away from the UK as I can . I hate it here and it has never felt like home . If I had the money and my health I would move tomorrow.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Rhode57 Tasmania is nice... (Well not really.. But the weather beats the snot out of Britain and its much closer to civilisation.)😷
I don't know.
I'm fairly happy where I am most of the time.
I have dreams about many different kinds of places - just daydreams, an old, old habit.

@hartfire Very honestly, I want out of the USA I won't go into the reasons as they are wide and varied.
@Grateful4you Would you and your partner consider moving to Australia? Would that be possible?
The area I live in is diverse - easy to find and be accepted in the social milieu of one's choice. It's subtropical, has great natural beauty and lots of beaches.

Definitely either Budapest, or in the Hebrides [remote Scottish isles]
sirenofthesea · F
Yea I’m not a fan of urban life at all, no thanks, I’d prefer the Hebrides. But Budapest is a nice creative place and not hectic. @tindrummer
Grateful4you · M
@sirenofthesea Sounds nice. Places I've never seen before.
tindrummer · M
@sirenofthesea visited Budapest pre and post '89 - it was interesting in both cases

I want to retire to acreage with a river running through it deep in the Aussie bush.
Grateful4you · M
@Gusman Sounds wonderful. Wishing you my best.
Are you there now?
If not, what would make it possible?

@hartfire Thanks for asking. As of yet, living beachfront is a bit beyond my means to be honest.

Grateful4you · M
@Crazywaterspring And lot's of pansit and adobo? Sounds gr eat. Good luck!
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@Grateful4you I retire in less than a year. Plenty of very fresh seafood. Yes, I already have a place there. The US is in rapid decline.
Grateful4you · M
@Crazywaterspring The same reason I want to leave this country. It's gotten nearly as bad as North Korea
akindheart · 61-69, F
don't come to Florida unless you have plenty of patience and money.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@akindheart I'll never return there. Born and raised there but no. The bugs alone...

Right where I am, with the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. I call it paradise where you don't need a snow jacket nor an air conditioner.

From where I belong, where I was born. Quietly.
Somewhere in Himalayan, near, all weathered snow cap mountains.

I am quite well set up as I am. Short of a big lottery win, this will do nicely.😷

I really have no idea. I might end up living in the Middle East but I don’t think I want to.

@DeWayfarer I just read and what a wonderful tribute to t he magical sea. I actually used to cry, at what I haven't a clue, I would just look out at the moonlit ocean, "Please take me home" the ocean is where my heart and soul is. The cradle of life.

bijouxbroussard · F
I wish I knew. A lot has changed since I retired, and the rest of my life is not so far off.
Grateful4you · M
@bijouxbroussard I know exactly what you mean. My priority at this point is a quality of life in an idyllic setting. Forget about politics, religion, cults of hatred. Me and my cat and a perfect view.
