When does a human (or any other animal) life start ? What actually is 'life' ?

Come on - I dare you to try and define it...

Remember we humans are animals.

Religious explanations are not permitted. Only science-based ones.

Life begins at conception.
@Iwillwait Genesis 2:7 is already referenced in my first post.

@anythingoes477 I appreciate you and your reference of GENESIS 2:7,Genesis 2:7 (KJV) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

This explains GOD'S Creation of Man, this does not define life as a definition of Life being from a Birth and breathing air.

We have all been predetermined as to our purpose, with "Free Will," being the ultimate proof to the Lord of our Love and Obedience. Once conceived Life has begun.

I understand your explanation of "Glob of Cells," this is a falsehood that had been indoctrinated into our society for the sake of the practice of abortion, which really is just a mass genocide.

If your Loved one who has made it to your definition of "Life/Living," being born, is now for some reason on "Life Support," and would not survive without it, are they not still alive?
@Iwillwait "This explains GOD'S Creation of Man, this does not define life as a definition of Life being from a Birth and breathing air."

In fact that is exactly what that quote says. No adult starts life by having the breathe of life breathed ibto them. A baby gasps it's first breathe at birth.

The second part........their BODY is artificially being made to go thru the motions of being alive.......on life support. But if brain waves are not existent...that person is dead. Who that person used to be is dead.
Well.......scientist have proven that a frozen fertilized embryo can survive 21 years and then be used to impregnate someone. And I'm fairly sure you can't freeze a living baby solid for even 1 minute and they'll live to tell about it...................so I would bet a $20 that a fertilized embryo is not the beginning of life as the SCOTUS says it is.
@anythingoes477 Very logical.

@anythingoes477 Then what is?
Just guessing. Consciousness and in animals/humans brain activity. Vegetation has no brain activity but app-arently some form of consciouness
Iwillwait · M
@Grateful4you Buy humans are not self aware for quite sometime after birth.
@Iwillwait Exactly right.

@Iwillwait Not answering the question - I asked when life starts. Sentience wasn't mentioned.

first and last warning - anyone who attempts to raise religion in this discussion will probably have their posts deleted. KEEP RELIGION OUT OF THIS AND RESTRICT IT TO GENUINE SCIENCE ONLY!

If 'life' begins at the first breath, then an unborn child is 'not alive' which is just complete crap since then that infers that an unborn child is 'dead'.

The only difference between unborn and born is the umbilical cord link. An unborn child is absolutely definitely 100 percent 'alive'. This is not a discussion about religion, or independence of being. Remember - scientific discussion not religious.

I remember Ronald Reagan being asked at what point a fetus became a person, and he replied, "Oh, when it becomes a Republican."

Only the atheist explanations are permitted? Life never starts and ever ends, we are eternal spiritual beings. It only has a beginning and end in physical body on earth, which is temporary. Science says man can have babies
Iwillwait · M
@InHeaven Ok, we can no longer speak to one another. Lol! 😆
At conception, when a swimmer fertilizes an egg, the process of human life begins.

That is scientifically proven and common knowledge, as well.
As for "What actually is life?" Life is the dynamic process of is/is-not. Purity/eternity/infinity is refracted like white light through a prism into a wondrous array of colors, moments and things in space and time, sounds, textures, tastes and smells.

Ultimately, everything is alive and the source is eternal and infinite.

@DffrntDrmmr That smells pseudo-religious... But interesting theory.
@butterflybaby75 I don't follow a religion nor am I religious.

well, you could call a seed "life" if you wanted. some would argue it's not life until it starts growing though. though a mass of roots with no plant like stem and leaves isnt exactly a plant either. sooo... science owul dprobably say it's life when it can function like it's supposed to, after it's grown some.

So you're curious what 2+species derived the human existence?
