@checkoutanytime Good to hear

@Pikachu yes, im not going to let someone drowned.
Im really a much kinder soul than i may be perceived here. I dont have a problem with adults choosing that life,im not their keeper. I dont think they should get special privileges or influence vulnerable children are my only objections.

So if you wouldn't let someone drown, why would you let someone die from diabetes because they have to choose between paying for insulin or paying for rent?

@Pikachu good night

@checkoutanytime
Hmm, don't want to answer that question? Imagine my surprise...
If you think of yourself as an honest person of good will then consider the answer to that question.
You don't have to post about it here but ask yourself what the difference is between saving someone from drowning and saving someone by sharing something as base as money.

@Pikachu someone elses fiscal health is none of my business
@checkoutanytime
You'd help someone who was drowning even though that's none of your business.
Why are you suddenly unwilling to help when it comes to money? Do you care about your money more than helping your neighbour?

@Pikachu "we reap what we sow", you are not entitled to my earnings. I could not in good conscience walk by someone drowning and not give my best effort to help them live. Theres no comparison

@checkoutanytime
I'm not entitle to your physical aid either.
Why is money more important to you than a human life?
Explain specifically what is the difference between doing what is within your power to prevent a death from drowning and doing what is within your power to prevent a death by diabetes.
Can you do that? Don't respond as if you're trying to win an internet argument. Actually think about that and try, honestly try to explain to me why helping someone who needs your help is different based on whether you can pull them out of the water or whether you need to spend something as material and pointless as money.
Oh did you want to go biblical? Sure! Let's see what the bible says about helping other people instead of just looking out for number 1:
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus

@Pikachu i have no control over costs. My desire to not be involved with health care, is of my own free will. I choose to live my life without doctor's, just like you choose how to live your life.
@checkoutanytime
You're not answering the question. So your desire is to not be involved with healthcare. Guess what? EVERYONE's desire is not to be involved with healthcare but not everyone has that privilege.
There are people who will suffer and people who will die who would not have done so if you could be part of making sure they had access to good healthcare.
What ethical reason do you have for denying them the help you could afford to give?
What ethical difference is there between helping someone to live with your own two hands and helping someone to live by the earnings of your own two hands?

@Pikachu bc i dont believe in modern medicine!
@checkoutanytime
you should go tell that to child suffering from polio...oh wait, there are none because of modern medicine...
so you choose to live your life without doctors...do you think everyone has that privilege? When they need surgery for a broken leg do they get to just decide they don't need medical intervention?
When someone's blood turns to acid from diabetic ketoacidosis do they get to decide that actually they're fine without modern medicine?
No. They'll suffer and they'll die.
You could prevent that.
If you can prevent suffering and death...why wouldn't you?

@Pikachu i dont believe in prolonging life. I find it has contributed to greater suffering, by even more people.
@checkoutanytime
lol then why would you prolong someone's life who is drowning?

@Pikachu im not a killer
checkoutanytime · 41-45, M
@Pikachu no, ive been ready to ignore you, but im trying to be corgille
@checkoutanytime
And i'm trying to make you think through your positions.
Your not killing someone by not saving them from drowning any more than you're killing someone by not helping them afford the care they need.
But by the same token, you're killing someone by not helping them afford the care they need just as much as you are by not helping someone who is drowning.
If you don't believe in prolonging life then there's no reason to save a drowning person.
So do you believe in prolonging life when it is in your power to do so or not?

@Pikachu tbh the pandemic destroyed what little trust i had in medical experts
@checkoutanytime
Well i think it was propaganda that did that.
But you didn't answer my question....

@Pikachu i never was intrested in this conversation, all i said is id help someone in need. No im not a Rockefeller i cant carry your medical burdens on my shoulders, i have my own expenses.
@checkoutanytime
lol few of us are. But that's the thing, bud: we're all in the same boat. It's good for all of use to help out our neighbour.
But what you're really saying there is that you'll take care of yourself and other people can take care of themselves and the people who can't can suffer and that's not your problem.
Maybe that selfish focus on your own self-interest is the way you want to live your life but it's not how i live mine.
Of the two of us, i wonder who has saved more people from "drowning" through our contributions to society...

@Pikachu tf it is, most of health cares expenses are from people not taking care of themselves, obviously not all. Please find someone else to push your views upon, im totally opposed and not even intrested.
