How can people sleep in total darkness?

If i dont have any light when i get up to use the bathroom id trip over something lol does that not happen to yall?

I prefer my bedroom to be almost totally dark, but there's always some light coming in through the door because I like to have a nightlight out in the hall (so that would light the way if I have to go to the bathroom).
