It used to happen all the time when I was working. Usually only when needed. For that particular circumstance they had my back....or I had theirs. I meant it every single time, I would protect them to the best of my ability no matter what hell we were walking into. They meant it to. It was never meant to be a lifelong commitment, just a tactical statement of fact as we faced a particular problem. Rarely has it been necessary to have someone cover my back since those days. I don't use that term lightly nor figuratively.

@bowman81 You were fortunate then. No one should use that term lightly or without meaning. But they do.
