My new journal template it’s really helping me keep perspective. As I took each slice into consideration, I did better than I gave myself credit. Today I hope to get out into the sunshine.
Yesterday was the first rather rough pain day since starting the medicine. Trying to remind myself that being down for the count once a week is still drastically better than every other day. Also trying to stay grateful for the pain meds because without them yesterday probably would have been near ER worthy.
I’m also grateful for my compassionate partner and empathetic Kiddo who were both very kind and helpful.
And.. this morning I’m doing OK. Maybe even a little better than I expected given the to not-great sleep. Pain level is manageable, which is good.
Leg is back to normal after hula hooping last Friday, which means the hamstring is healing faster and faster. 👍

hula hooping is so cool if i had another few lifes, i'd like to master it in one... <3 what's written in the middle of the chart? I like it btw, i find it brilliant
I know a few tricks, but I’m definitely not a hooping bad ass 😊🤷🏻♀️ It is really therapeutic for me though. Spinning around is my happy place. No matter how crappy a day I’ve had it’s hard to stay discouraged or angry when you’re hula hooping lol …which is why even though my gas string gets mad I refuse to stop 😅
ikigai is a Japanese concept. It can look like a lot of different things, but the gist is that your ikigai is the sum of what gives your life purpose, meaning, and fulfillment.
My template is based off of the Wellness Wheel, but with ikigai in mind in how I fill it out.
This link does a pretty good job of describing it https://www.blinkist.com/magazine/posts/use-japanese-art-ikigai-find-matters
Sometimes people draw it up like this, but in reality it can vary greatly
@WhateverWorks oh thanks very detailed answer, interesting concept the Ikigai. I will look some further into it! What kind of hula hoop do you have and where did you find it? I have bought one sometime ago but then my niece came over and got so excited so I just gave it to her lol but it wasn't anything special, just a plastic one from a toy's shop
I’ve picked mine up from the farmers market in my area. If you have any resemblance of an artsy community where you live I bet you could Google your town, hula hoops, end it would pull up local makers. Granted, they are easy to make. I’m just lazy lol if you were able to hula hoop with one from a toy store than you might be better than you realize. Adult size hoops are way easier to keep up than smaller, lightweight ones. @being
Nah, It’s made out of pvc (Polypropylene) piping. Often you can pick it up from hardware stores. They say you want a hoop that touches the floor up to your belly button or to your ribs if you are new. Heavier hoops keep their momentum easier, but also heavier means less tricks @being
@WhateverWorks wow that's really a big one, the one I had was much smaller and lighter and it got me discouraged! Will check it out, but couldn't find anything around here as they're not that popular... Enjoy yours 😌☺️
Yeah, I wouldn’t be discouraged. Most adults can’t hoop with the kids one. There’s not enough space to get an easy motion going. Usually people only use the kids ones for arm tricks.
Might be worth checking out eBay then. Etsy also but that tends to be more expensive. @being
