In a quest for balance

I see how i love it all yin. But how do I bring about some yang activities? I am finding myself rejecting anything that requires serious amount of effort. For example i object to going to a challenging yoga class, while I am happy to go to a dancing sort of class. But is what I feel comfortable with doing, the best criteria to make choices? Should I push myself or not?

I know that's something personal that's different for each, but what's your take?

I think the answer is within whatever your goals are subjectively. Some things I just enjoy doing and don’t feel it necessary to push myself, though I do periodically test out something new to keep life colorful. However, in other areas of my life I push myself because I want/need to improve in those areas.

Ex: covid hasn’t been super inspirational for me, but under normal circumstances I would an artist-ish. I don’t plan to do it professionally with it. My art is just for me, so I don’t feel the itch to practice, practice, practice different techniques or take courses to advance. I do however periodically do experimental pieces or play with new mediums. I rotate between a few different mediums when one starts to feel stale etc.

Now, when it comes to my core values in application, The values I am making a daily effort to live out, like being a good mom or helping people, I’m constantly reviewing my approach, challenging myself to learn more and do better.

Move ahead step by step. First have an idea how much effort it would require, and are you ready to start under that range. Do not take impossible challenges for you. But unless you try, you wouldn't know where you stand. Have a mindset of accepting failures to work on to improve yourself.

Do what you feel is the need of the hour. Wants can wait as per the energy & time you are able to manage.

Prioritise & gradually bring change, if needed at all so that you are able to manage your priorities in the stipulated time.
Take small steps to reach clear cut goals. You dont need to do yoga. You can keep a gratitude journal and do 5min meditations. Go out in nature for walks whatever makes you happy. Keep healthy to. Eat a good diet.
