I can’t bring myself to apply for scholarships. I don’t like begging for money

I know I could qualify for numerous scholarships and the money would surely be helpful, but there’s something about a board of strangers reviewing my inspiration p*rn essay, comparing it to the other trauma turned triumphs stories that feels so degrading.

“Welk, we really like the story about the blind, single mom whose past family trauma made her decide to go into this field, but the essay about the DREAMER in the wheelchair is also pretty good. Who has a higher GPA again? I know they both volunteered, but who did more volunteer work?”

I can never bring myself to apply. In the end I always decide that the money isn’t worth competing for who has the saddest victory story.

Apply! Appy! Apply! You have an inner child with a gift at your door. Do not deny the inner child some peace, some serenity, some enjoyment, some self love, ….

Goodness gracious! You got me all worked up! Apply!

You are deserving and will make use of what you receive. Please apply! Don’t second guess! Aaappplllyyy!

My inner child doesn’t like being measured 🤣. My inner child says, “Screw you! I don’t need your blue ribbon for my trauma story! I’ll fibd a different way to get there “ 🤣🤣@Canuckle

What if? What if? What if? Just go for it!

It’s not about the winning or losing part. The whole process of them comparing me to other people to decide who is more worthy makes me feel dirty lol… @Canuckle

@WhateverWorks don't take it as a comparison, think of it more like a lottery??

I’ve had friends on the board for those meetings though. It’s not a lottery. They legit sit around at a table discussing peoples essays and applications by comparing components of them 😞. I almost wish the life story part wasn’t allowed to be a part of the process or at least was limited to a very small portion of it because then I don’t think I would have an issue with this. I would perceive it as more like a job application @elafina

@WhateverWorks keep the end in mind, not the process. What could you give back to humanity by accomplishing what is your desire. If you were a see saw - you give more than you receive. What is the end you have in mind and the beginning will make sense.

I probably would if the scholarships were the deciding factor for me to achieve my goal or not. I’m already doing what I need to do with school and what not. The scholarships would be more of a stress reducer financially, but not necessary for the goal @Canuckle

@WhateverWorks I hope you find the energy to receive what is due to yourself. Whatever your end goal is you will do it justice!
