I respect my parents. They prioritized my siblings and I, and taught us about right an wrong.

However, so much child abuse is swept under the guise of "honor your parents".

@Northwest I had a wonderful Dad, but my Mom was verbally, mentally, and physically abusive. She spit me in the face and broke my dogs leg. But I always honored her because God gave her to me and I learned from her to put Jesus first. And I was always loving to her even though she hated me because I read the Bible.

Yes, this is what empowers abusers.

@Northwest Good for you to respect them!

@Northwest Nevertheless we can grow from pain too! I have learned so much and matured because of my Mom.

We can also require decades of therapy just as easily. Breaking a dog's leg is something you report to authorities, else you risk her breaking another dog's leg.

@Northwest Children don't report parents usually if they are scared. My Mom had mental illness and I understand that now. God had a purpose for me in my life. I help animals and people now and I am very grateful for my Mom. She was not happy. I think she had a lot of trauma in her childhood and she did not turn to God, but I have. I am happy and I have dedicated my life to helping others. God has helped me so much. I had a wonderful Dad who loved her, and me. If he had left my Mom then It would have been bad for me. But he made our home so happy when he was home. And I had wonderful loving grandparents, except
my Mom wanted to get away from them because they were oldfashion and christian. But I visited them often and felt very loved. My childhood was wonderful when I spent time with my grandparents. Some people are sick and we can love them and forgive them.

Religion tells me not to.

and if people knew about it, it could have been treated. The standard response from the clergy was to hide that stuff.

@Northwest I went to Jesus and got help, she did not go to church and she never got the help she needed. She went to counselors and got meds for a while but it wont always get hate out of peoples hearts. We have to love, forgive, and mature if we want to be well. That comes from the love of Jesus.

Not really. The brainwashing works on you, not your mother.

Exactly. The love of Jesus did not anything.

@Northwest The love of Jesus healed me!🙂

How did the dog do?
Carazaa · F
@Northwest I took care of the dog, and then my grandparents did.

@Northwest Realize that God says "Mine is the vengeance says The Lord" There will be
"gnashing of teeth" forever for those who have not repented and turned from their sins. I pray that she repented and is in heaven. If not eternety will be long for her, and I pray she wont go there.
