I do not like when able-bodied people get things that I have to work for, for free

I try to be grateful for what I have, food, water, shelter.

I try to be grateful that I have remained employed throughout the pandemic.

But I can't help but think: I'd probably have more if I didn't work.

I.e free food- extra snap/food stamp benefits ( I do not & have not ever in life received them).

Free money ( child credit- $200-300 per child per month) just for having a child.

Unemployment and housing help.

Pretty sure these folks incomes is greater than mine, yet they don't even have to lift a finger.

Apparently I'm doing something wrong🤷‍♀️

Yes, but many of those benefits will be going away soon. And then those people will be scrambling to get by. But you will be able to hold your head high, and know that through your sheer determination and will, that you have done what many were unable to do.
But, if you ever do find yourself on hard times, don't be ashamed to take advantage of that assistance, after all, it's your taxes that pay for it.

@TheSentinel yea but like I stated above, many are able to work. Many choose not to work because many can make more money off of handouts.
There are jobs. They may not be glamorous, but there are jobs.
@iamnikki And I'm not disputing that. I've seen the same here. That is prompted the reply I made to you. That's why I said you should hold your head high, knowing you stuck it out when things were at there worst.
But on the other hand, I don't consider the stimulus checks as a handout. For me, I see them more as a return on the half a century of taxes I've paid in.

@TheSentinel well there’s a lot more than that. They’ve stolen from us for the longest time since the Federal Reserve System got put into place removing our gold and silver backed system. We’ve paid layers of taxes to the point that we don’t have nearly as much buying power with our money due to whatever services and goods that we buy also being increased in prices due to the service people or goods sellers having to pay their share. Back in the 70’s I read the reason so many people were having to wait to buy a home was due to this and also the high interest rates on loans due to the Federal Reserve System’s printing money without any material backing for it.
