Insurance, is 'insurance' against having to do that.
Yoy pay a bit every month, so you don't have to pay a big lump sum all at once .

Companies don't 'give ' you money .
They have to make money to have reserve for claims .
If you only want to pay when you have an accident...then don't get insurance....and be faced with the thousands, if not 10's of thousands of dollars in repair bills .🤷♀️

@uyrex That's what is referred to as "self-insured." But be aware that if you have any money or possessions at all, an unscrupulous person would likely clean you out with a lawsuit.
