There was also the Doolittle raid, lead by it's Namesake, Colonel James Doolittle, on April 18th, 1942, which involved 16 B-25 Mitchells being launched from the USS Hornet to drop bombs on Tokyo.

@Sidewinder Indeed, and some raids from Southeast Asia before the B-29s could reach Tokyo from recently retaken Pacific islands.
