When you're scared of the idea of a possible promotion...

Normal people are always excited for promotion. It means more salary and benefits, sure.

A part of me is excited too but I'm also a bit scared because it means more responsibilities. And I think I'm already getting more responsibilities even without it. I feel like I'm pushing myself too hard and it shows...but how hard is enough? Reaching a limit only means there's a new limit to reach. It never ends.

That I am not normal may also be a factor XD

Advice?

But whatever happens, I just pray I could honor Him. If it happens, I want to do it right. Be it right. For God's glory.

That sounds pretty normal. So are you getting symptoms from the excessive stress as it is?
Casheyane · F
@BlueVeins If getting drunk in milk chocolate is one then yes haha.

It's not really excessive stress. But knowing I need to give more that is making my tail shake.

But I trust God. :) Whatever is in His will, I know He'll take care of me. Now I just have to remind myself always.

That's a perfectly normal response. Not everyone wants to keep adding more responsibilities to their plate. Like me, for example! They tried to promote me last year into a management position, which I have no interest in doing. Instead, we compromised and now I'm kind of a pseudo-manager, where I basically run the team while giving the tedious management responsibilities (like performance reviews and budgeting) to someone else.

You just need to talk your concerns over with whoever is promoting you, and work something out. Don't take on new tasks unless you give away some other ones, otherwise you will burn out.

@FaeLuna That's what I don't like haha. The burnout.

Thanks for sharing. :)

@Casheyane That's young Kwai Chang Caine and it's a good 14 years before Collin was born. Now...let's see if you leave footprints on the rice paper.

@Casheyane I'm interested to know how this is working out for you.
Casheyane · F
@SW-User I just did my best. :) That's all I could do on my part.

I never asked for promotion or seeked it, but I was always asked, I never said no, I am quite in a high position now, but it was never my intention to be where I am today.
Casheyane · F
@Justenjoyit Is it worth it?
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
@Casheyane It has its plus points, I can come and go how I like, make up daily plan etc. not really me but at my age I dont fight it.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I feel the same about promotion and responsibility. Worse, I have an expectation to work towards promotion or I could be fired despite being happy where I am. It's really unpleasant and stressful.

@ViciDraco Fist bump
