What are your thoughts on religion and what do you believe in?

Be honest
LadyGrace · 70-79
Religion is man-made philosophy. Salvation has nothing to do with religion or religious groups. Religion did not die on the cross to save us from our sins. Jesus did. I believe in heaven and hell and the resurrection of Jesus and the Bible describes both places in detail. God said in his word that one must be born again in order to be saved and I believe that. I believe we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ which is what it says in God's Word. Salvation can never be earned. Grace means UN-earned favor. Salvation is free and when we ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins and invite Him into our heart and life, He promises to forgive us and give us eternal life in heaven. Jesus said, "I go to prepare a place for you. If it were not so, I would have told you." That place is heaven.

Thank you for sharing! Did you grow up Christian or find god throughout your life?

@heyitsemma No one grows up automatically a Christian. Even if their parents were. It is strictly a personal decision each of us must make, which is what the Bible states. I found God on my own. And no matter what way one is raised, the Bible says if we want to be saved we must seek out Jesus and he will reveal himself to us. If we want to find the truth, we must look at the source of truth, found in God's Word, because He is sinless and Jesus cannot lie. He is trust-Worthy.

@heyitsemma Heaven and Hell are not just a state of mind. When we die our soul either goes to heaven or hell. Jesus said so and he said I go to prepare a place for you. A place. Not a state of mind. That place is heaven. The Bible describes what each place looks like in detail. It is not a metaphor. And one's soul is much too precious to leave to chance. Jesus doesn't lie. He didn't come and suffer on the cross for a lie.

the easiest way way to control people and make sure they believe anything you feed them

@Nanori cba?

@TheRascallyOne cba = "Can't be arsed". What's the point of wasting time giving religious zealots the facts when we know they're just going to ignore them?

Was raised a Christian and still more or less consider myself one. I hold some beliefs though that are highly unusual for Christians where I live, such as that I don’t believe in hell. Just today at work I was considering the dilemma of whether or not to believe in God/Heaven either. There’s neither any scientific evidence for the existence of God nor any logical necessity for him, but he still could exist. If there is a Heaven it would seem to serve as a disincentive to live one’s life to the fullest because you know you still have the afterlife to look forward to; on the other hand, even when humans don’t believe in Heaven and do live their lives to the fullest, this world is full of injustice and cruelty. Relationships get destroyed, hearts broken. Some of those wrongs get righted here in this life, but many more never do. I would hate to think that in most cases evil and pain get the final word, the last laugh. That separation from your loved ones is forever. After all we’ve been through, everyone, or at least the vast majority of us deserve something much better when this life is over.

Religion is like worshipping a TV set box like an idol believing blindly everything it says and then obeying it. There is no greater religion right now than that.

In many cases it provides a crutch for those unable to face reality. I prefer to believe reality.

I believe in God. I don't really have much interest in belonging to religion, as God doesn't have a religion. I believe that heaven and hell are states of existence and not a physical or spiritual place. I believe that God is a manifestation of the consciousness of the Universe.

Awesome 🙏 I believe in a god too, not religion. Interesting view point. Sometimes I think the state of our world is a manifestation of our own minds. We can collectively manifest heaven on earth, or hell on earth. Similar to 2020 lol

I was taught to believe in religion but not make to think! When everyone think beyond belief they can realise the truth.
It's an interesting subject. But it's deadly as well.
