I saw ball lightning once at the top of a telephone pole on the way to school from a rural area once. Had many colors swirling around inside it as it slowly followed the wire. I will never forget it. Similar to this but up in the telephone wire...

@PatKirby one time when my daughter was a toddler she picked up a pair of metal nutcrackers and pretended she was going to fix the dryer with pliers after seeing me reach down behind it and pick up some socks that fell back there. As she did she touched the metal grounding plate to a wire and huge ball of orange fire blew out from the back of the dryer parallel to the wall. The breaker box was within a few feet of me & I flipped the breaker on the dryer in case it was starting a fire. All she had to show for it was some black soot on her hand & a little pink from the warmth.
