When I had my second baby, I was 20. The nurses in the maternity ward thought I was 12.

They must have thought you were 8 for your first child!

@Jenni855: You had a baby at 8?!!!!! 馃槈
Jenni85536-40, F
No, just that people always think 10-12 years younger etc.@HoraceGreenley:
[c=#BF0080]Serenitree Same. I was 19 when I had my first.. I'd get strange looks.. and a few times people even made ignorant comments to me because they thought I was a lot younger. I hated it back then.[/c]

@Jenni855: I know. i was kidding.

@Jenni855: @pinkrainbowkisses: It can be difficult when you re young. But, once you get over 25 years old, it's terrific.

I've seen many high school classmates that hit puberty early. By the time they were 30 they looked 55.

You'll be an adult a lot longer than you were a teenager.

I hate it and am 31.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@Jenni855: But you must look 21 now right?
Jenni85536-40, F
No, people always say 19 and 'At a push, 20' @HoraceGreenley:
SerenitreeF
@HoraceGreenley: they didn't think I was 8. They thought I was 12. Different hospital, different nurses. I just aged very slowly. I was in my thirties before I started losing that soft roundness that children have. My father was the same. His sisters were extremely youthful even in old age.

@Jenni855: So what's wrong with that?
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@Serenitree: It's a nice thing, is it not?
SerenitreeF
It's very nice. I'm 72' and the only wrinkles I have are around my eyes.

I hate looking like a kid and the constant attention it brings. @HoraceGreenley:
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@Jenni855: It's better than looking old.
Jenni85536-40, F
I guess, just wish I could be normal and look my age or near enough it though.
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@Jenni855: Why is it such a problem?
Jenni85536-40, F
It is like I have a mask on, people assume I am a kid and it isn't the real me. It also leads to constant embarrassing incidents. @HoraceGreenley:
HoraceGreenley56-60, M
@Jenni855: Can you give me an example of what is embarrassing?
Jenni85536-40, F
1. People thinking I am just out of college and so don't have much experience at work. 2. People my age or older calling me 'sweetie' as they think I am years younger. 3. Humiliation of being I'ded everywhere. 4. Not looking womanly 5. Kids of about 18 chatting me up, again, as they think I am their age...@HoraceGreenley:
SerenitreeF
@Jenni855: would you rather university students call you Mumsie?

Jenni85536-40, F
I would just like them to refer to me as they do to others their age. Isn't asking much.
SerenitreeF
@Jenni855: isn't that what you were just complaining about?
Kids of about 18 chatting me up, again, as they think I am their age...@
Jenni85536-40, F
That's one of the points I was saying was a negative, yes...I get chatted up by 18 year olds and who wants that at 31.
