What's the deal with younger men claiming older women (60+) can be attractive?

Is it an attempt at flattery?
Is it currying favour for something else, like getting free editing on a poem or story?

The thing is, when it happens (rare) it's incongruent. There are no other signs or signals of attraction.

If it is true, what is it that they find attractive?

If it's not, why would they bother to insist on it?

Is it a misguided attempt to be "kind" - as if looks were the only basis for self esteem or confidence?

Is it just plain stupid - no reason at all?

I understand exactly what you are saying. First off there are a very few young men that do find over 60 attractive but most of these are into fetish. I personally find older women very pretty but obviously in a different way than a smoking hot 21 year old.
I get what you are asking.

No I do not believe that most young men would want sex with over 60 woman. People online say many things for various reasons. Becareful.

Yeah - I never have trusted the online thing - which is why I've posted serious warnings on my profile. Fortunately, they have proved effective and I rarely get hassled.

My post is really about two experiences in real life (i.e., rare) in which both guys were obviously lying (their body language and behaviour was incongruent).
Since I wouldn't expect an honest answer if I asked them, "why lie?" - I thought asking in this forum might be more likely to attract good guesses - or even someone who has lied and is willing to say why under the cloak of anonymity.

I don't doubt that this young man is for real - but I think the documentary video was made precisely because someone like him is rare enough to be bizarre - not bad, wrong or in any way worthy of negative judgements - just bizarre.

What is also clear is that his relationships with them are predominantly sexual, that the ones he likes best are also friends, but that he;s very reluctant to commit to an intimate relationship with one person. This suggests that he's not particularly interested in the benefits of their maturity of mind. If he ever did commit, would he be happy to nurse them through the last four years of their lives?
Would he be happy to never have kids of his own?

He reminds me of a palomino stallion I once knew. If a chestnut, palomino or cremello mare passed him, he would go crazy with excitement. If a mare of any other colour passed, even if in full oestrus, he would show no response.
It's a fetish, a classic Pavlovian conditioned reflex.
