What's the deal with younger men claiming older women (60+) can be attractive?

Is it an attempt at flattery?
Is it currying favour for something else, like getting free editing on a poem or story?

The thing is, when it happens (rare) it's incongruent. There are no other signs or signals of attraction.

If it is true, what is it that they find attractive?

If it's not, why would they bother to insist on it?

Is it a misguided attempt to be "kind" - as if looks were the only basis for self esteem or confidence?

Is it just plain stupid - no reason at all?

All vaginas are beautiful.
@Rokasu Perhaps - but a woman is not merely her vulva; it's less than 0.1% of her being.

Are you saying that the only thing that's attractive about a woman is her vulva? A man could buy a rubber one from a sex shop and never again have to worry about trying to score.
@Rokasu but not yours.

Heartfire: That guy (look at his avatar!!) just wants to sound smutty

We get too much of that here too
@Elevatorpitches The anime image certainly doesn't match a male of 31-35.
and the username "Rokasu" means a traditional Japanese garment worn around the neck of Zen Buddhists who have taken the precepts.
From his comments, either he hasn't taken the precepts, or he's playing up.
Either way, I take the incongruence as a sign not to take the comments seriously.
If I reply seriously, it's not for his sake, but for the others that might read it.
@hartfire snarkiness and disrespect is THE religion here
