Which fabric feels best on the skin? And which feels worst?

I love the feel of 100% pure linen, cotton or hemp.

I detest synthetics, the way they trap sweat and won't let the skin breathe. Yuck!

Silk, cashmere and merino wool are my favourites, I hate anything 100% polyester.

@AntisocialTroll Aah, yes, silk, cashmere and merino - so warm in winter - and yet breathing so freely. They are lovely.

Polyester - Polyethylene terephthalate or PET for short, synthesized from fossil fuels or organic sources.
Its production emits toxins into both air and waterways.

Polyester fabric releases toxic gas phthalates into the air and through contact with the skin. Exposure to phthalates can disrupt normal ovarian function by several different mechanisms, leading to reproductive and non-reproductive abnormalities. Sticks to perspiring skin.
Not as breathable as natural fabrics, thus creating unpleasant body odor.

Someone caught in a fire while wearing it is a guaranteed to have far more severe burns. The fumes are deadly. The cloth melts onto the skin, cooks it, and cannot be removed without also stripping the skin. The pain is torture.

Once in the environment, it takes about 20 years to degrade. It's a known hazard for aquatic animals.
