Hey any of y'all know what bruises/wounds a hammer to the hand would leave?

This depends more on what the character needs to do later
A significant hammer injury is several months rehab

Huge edema of normal color. At least a few hours after the injury. I don't know how will it progress further yet.

Invite someone you dislike over to your place...bash his hand..take pics of it. Easy.

Bruised
With possible cuts and bone protruding

unless it breaks the hand the bruise would be small and round

They are good for smashing fingers.

Get a hammer, find a Nazi, smash his hand in and take pictures. Should be sufficient.

How hard a hammer blow. Slight? Swollen with some very light greyish to greyish-green bruise coloration. Severe swollen with a purplish and blackish-violet coloration and possibly some vascular spider webbing. With all kinds of wonderful rosary reds and crustacean blues in between those.
