If you were able to take the time out of your day to interview & hire her, you can take the time to pay her. What you're doing to her is absolutely unconscionable. You are in breach of a contract. If she took you to court, you'd lose. Pay her and she'll return your house key. It's that simple. She doesn't have any interest in stealing from you.
