Do you think our lives would be more fulfilling or more depressing if we could all see into our future?

And would you want to know yours at the risk of possibly being disappointed with the outcome?

Not a good idea to look into the future, you might not like what you see 🙄

@Ian123 based on how life has gone up until this point for me...I’d have to agree lol. I haven’t had a completely awful life but there are so many thing I wouldn’t have wanted to know were coming up for me.

@SW-User Thats if it can be changed 🤗
Ian123 · 61-69, M
@Girlygirl099 It’s best not to know, If you changed your life to avoid the bad bits you would change other people’s lives as well and so on. Not totally sure this would be a good thing 👍

It's unimaginable in the first place. It doesn't make any sense. If you knew your future you could change it. If not then it would be a completely different world and we wouldn't even be humans, just some odd machines with their fixed place, purpose and direct path. What would left of us without hope, surprise and even fears?
Girlygirl099 · 26-30, F
@CrazyMusicLover good point!! I guess I’m referring to things that are out of our control. Such as a family member getting sick Or passing away, or the end result of a marriage etc. But you’re right. Your answer is giving me “Lakehouse” vibes idk if you’ve ever seen that movie!

@Girlygirl099 I haven't seen it yet but now I'm curious about it.

If you see it, I would think you could change it, if you don't like it..
Madhatter · 31-35, M
Hmm... It would be nice to have things to look forward to... Not so nice to have things to dread... Being that I'm not an optimistic person, I'd have to say it would probably be better to leave it all a surprise. Quite risky that gamble. If those scales don't measure out, one might not want to have a future at all.
Girlygirl099 · 26-30, F
@Madhatter couldn’t agree more!!
I wouldn't want to see it even if it wasn't disappointing. Unexpected good things are part of life's joy, and if we knew when the great parts would be, we'd sleep-walk through the not-so-great parts.

I prefer finding out a day at a time and feeling like I have something to say about it. Which is the way we live it, fortunately.
I think it would be more scary to see into the future. So no, wouldnt want that option.
Girlygirl099 · 26-30, F
@BlondilyOld based on the way my life has gone up until this point and also just who I am as a person, id say I’d rather not know as well lol
smiler2012 · 56-60
girlygirly099 well that all depends what the future holds to how you will feel about it
Girlygirl099 · 26-30, F
@smiler2012 very true. Would you be willing to take the risk to find out based on how your life has gone so far?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Sort of thing you wish for when you're young.
Not so when you're older
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
When I feel bad I do, when I feel good i dont.
Girlygirl099 · 26-30, F
@MartinTheFirst exactly!! Same
