A young woman I knew some years ago ate a wild mushroom. I warned her not to do it after I looked up "mycology" in the encyclopedia and found out how many famous mycologists with advanced degrees had died of eating a poison mushroom. But she did eat it. She was a Boston U. graduate, and I was a cute blonde with no education beyond high school, so she didn't think I knew anything worth listening to.
She was unconscious almost immediately and in the hospital for 6 weeks. The doctors said she was lucky to be alive.
