Two things about your country.

One you love.

Love : Diversity and liberal embracing of multiculturalism.
I'd distance from : communal conflicts stemming due to hatred and lies being spewed by the current admin, destroying the very thing I love about my country.

I love that I live in a functioning democracy.
I find the distance from say Europe rather inconvenient but being an island continent did serve us well during this pandemic.

I love that for the most part we treat every nation on its own merits.
I hate that we seldom treat our own the same way

@SW-User France is nice, lovely even. It鈥檚 just the people... 馃槼

(That鈥檚 a lol-jk, btw, if we have any french people out there)

(If we haven鈥檛, well, they鈥檙e always pissed, smoking gauloise cigarettes too chicly, riding nostalgic bikes, with onions round their necks)(there, got that one off my chest!)

I will kick off.

Love? Our sense of fair play.
Distance from? Our historical wealth from slavery and colonialism.
Our diversity, and the fact that we do try to get it right...eventually.
I鈥檇 distance myself from the persistent racism and misogyny that has been a part of our history, which seems to reappear between those attempts to live up to the ideals we profess.

I love American diversity. We have such a broad range of environments and cultures.

I'd rather distance myself from the willful ignorance and disdain for scientific and intellectual pursuits that tend to pervade our society.
