Ok, honestly, what "essentials" are you really desperate to put into your shopping trolley when you're allowed out...

...apart from the obvious 'milk & bread', that is...
curiosi · 61-69, F
Water, I have severe chemical sensitivities and need spring water. They are hoarding it however and there is none left.
4meAndyou · F
@curiosi Ah. I understand. I assume distilled water would not work either for that reason. In my area we have spring water "filling stations", where you can refill your own gallon jugs.

What I would do if I were you is contact your local grocery store manager, explain your situation, and ask him if some can be kept aside for you for medical reasons.
curiosi · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou No one believes that you can be allergic to fluoride.
4meAndyou · F
@curiosi If your doctor believes you, then contact him and ask him to write you a doctor's note.
I bought orange juice this morning..handed out of the shop over the barricade.

Next week I will need oat milk and Flora..

@TheSirfurryanimalWales Mrs G??! I sent her a PM, but no answer here. Send her my 💖 and I hope she's well 🤗
@Valentine I will tell her as she never comes here.We play on word game apps.
Valentine · M
@TheSirfurryanimalWales Ok. Tell her it's reasonably safe these days as far as I can see? A few of the 'safe' crowd here!!
4meAndyou · F
I'm not desperate for anything...yet. Unfortunately some of the things I ordered from Amazon just keep kicking their delivery dates back and back. I ordered toilet paper from Amazon with a delivery date of the end of the first week in April, and now they have pushed my delivery date till the end of May.

The brown rice I ordered from Amazon did not arrive last night. It was supposed to have been delivered by 8 p.m., and now I have to check daily to see if it will ever be delivered.
Valentine · M
@4meAndyou Ooo-dea. And I thought Amazon was so on-the-game. Clearly not. So, #delicatelyasks, how are you 'surviving' in the restroom, @JustForMe? Goose necks? 🤣
4meAndyou · F
@Valentine They are no longer prompt, if that's what you mean. They sell many items from vendors that are not stocked in Amazon's warehouses and are not under the Prime delivery guarantee.
Valentine · M
@4meAndyou Whoops - I meant on-their-game or on-the-ball. On-the-game means prolly over there what it means over here...

I have to eat a certain way so oatmeal, oatmilk, bananas, walnuts, chicken, ground turkey, onions, potatoes, and carrots are staples I need weekly.
Valentine · M
@SW-User Sounds like a good diet for most peeps. Stay well.
Tomato sauce and canned tomatoes and soup.
Valentine · M
@Spoiledbrat ...tomato soup, by any chance? Craving tomatoes by any chance, are we!!?
redredred · M
fresh fruit and vegetables
SW-User
Soaps, detergent, body shampoo, vegetables, canned foods, coffee, french fries, chilli sauce, ketchup, peppers, tampons...
Valentine · M
@SW-User They do say your trolley builds up a pretty accurate picture of its shopper. Must admit, I'm getting a full picture here! Take care. Ps: if you get short, I can help you with all but one item...😂

@Burrito I don't smoke, otherwise... And I bet there's a few with dodgy lungs who will be giving it up soon as well...

@redredred I am in Australia. Supermarkets still open and we're allowed to go ( for now) I am just trying to minimise my interactions with strangers. I will go and get it tomorrow. Thank you.
What kind bread do you make? Please share easy recipe for me to try..:)
redredred · M
@Orlbe I've had the same sour dough starter for more than a year now. Access the first and second Tartine books and follow his sour dough process and recipe. It is an incredibly easy recipe, no kneading, all it requires is time. It takes all day but the actual work is minimal.

You will need a scale and a covered baking dish. I use a cast iron Lodge pot and baking parchment and I get fantastic results; as good as any artisanal bakery product Ive ever had.
Orlbe · 26-30, F
@redredred Awesome. Thank you so much! I will try it :)
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
chocolates, expensive skin care stuff.
i don't do that though. can't afford skin care.
Valentine · M
@assemblingaknob Mmmm, chocolate. I do admit (quietly) to having panic bought that. But so did many others when I looked.
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
@Valentine 😁
goliathtree · 56-60, M
neither of those are essentials actually.

Buy canned goods, flour, sugar, salt, yeast.
Valentine · M
@goliathtree ...sugar? The white poison??! Nooooo, don't do it my friend...
goliathtree · 56-60, M
@Valentine sorry, natural preservative.
Coisty · 51-55, M
Crisps....specifically Cheese n Onion square
Valentine · M
@Coisty Yumm. Tried them smashed to smithereens on white bread and butter with salad cream? My friend did, and he said that was great...🤥
Coisty · 51-55, M
@Valentine they're ok on a sandwich without the salad cream
Nimbus · M
Truffles and Dom Pérignon mainly.
Valentine · M
@Nimbus There could be a rush on the latter, especially 😂 #getsincartoTescoaheadoftherush...
Valentine · M
