What has happened here?

Very happy with girlfriend of 18 months.
In the process of divorce from my wife. We split in April 2018.
Today my soon to be ex wife called me very upset and angry and said she received a call from a property developer asking about her interest in housing where my girlfriend currently lives (3 hours away. We do not live together as yet.) She said they said she had put her number into the system and requested a callback. She hadn't.
She thinks I did it and that I am playing games. I did not. How has this happened?

I would blame it on dumb luck or cell phones. As I travel for work in an area from Michigan to South Carolina, as I pass through a state, I will start getting calls from telemarketers in that state. "Your number is in our records" is a pretty frequent one. As my cell pings from region to region, I get the calls. Maybe your Ex drove to your girlfriends town to scope things out and her number got snatched by a telemarketer that way.

It could have just been a sales or scam call...they often say things like that including "our records show...". They love to trick you into listening to them, getting your information, or buying or buying into whatever they are selling. That is most likely what happened.
